Multidisciplinary Approach to Head and Neck Cancer: The complexity of cancer care in the twenty-first century mandates the input of a spectrum of health care providers to achieve the best possible outcome. Head and neck cancer in particular occurs in an anatomical region unmatched in the number of physiological functions potentially affected with disease and treatment, including respiration, physical appearance, vocalization, gustation, olfaction, and alimentation. Further complicating treatment is the wide range of tumor types and tumor locations in head and neck cancer, all of which taken separately are relatively rare cancers.
